IPL Pigmentation Treatment – Target and Fade Unwanted Pigmentation

IPL Pigmentation Treatment is a non-invasive, light-based skin treatment designed to target unwanted pigmentation such as sunspots, freckles, age spots, and other signs of sun damage. Using intense pulsed light (IPL), this treatment breaks down excess melanin in the skin, which is then naturally cleared away by your lymphatic system—revealing a more even, radiant complexion.
This procedure is ideal for pigmentation removal on the face, neck, chest, and upper body and is suitable for clients seeking clearer skin without downtime or invasive measures.
What IPL Pigmentation Removal Treats
-
Sun damage and sunspots
-
Age spots and liver spots
-
Freckles and general skin discolouration
-
Uneven skin tone caused by excess melanin
What to Expect During Your IPL Pigmentation Session
During your treatment, a series of controlled light pulses are delivered to the targeted area. The light is absorbed by pigmented lesions, heating and shattering the melanin without affecting the surrounding skin. Over time, the treated pigment will darken and naturally flake away, improving overall skin clarity and brightness.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Most clients require 2 to 4 sessions spaced 1–2 weeks apart, depending on the type and depth of pigmentation. Maintenance treatments every 3–6 months may be recommended to keep your skin looking its best.
Suitability & Pre-Treatment Considerations
Not everyone is suitable for IPL pigment correction. Treatment may not be suitable for:
-
Melasma (Aesthetic Nurse Joanna can recommend alternative options)
-
Fitzpatrick Skin Types V & VI
-
Clients who are not prepped with appropriate skincare 4 weeks prior
-
Skin that is sensitised or compromised (e.g. impaired barrier, recent sunburn)
A thorough consultation and patch test is required 24–48 hours before your first treatment to ensure safety and suitability.
If vascular concerns such as broken capillaries or facial redness are also present, pigmentation may be treated first, followed by IPL Vascular Therapy if appropriate.

PRE & POST TREATMENT CARE
During the Treatment:
Mild to moderate heat and discomfort is expected.
Some people equate the sensation to a “rubber band flicking” on the area.
These sensations should always be tolerable.
