The non surgical medical procedures may involve downtime, and although complications are rare, they can occur. To mitigate any risks, please carefully review the information provided below.

This page contains all the essential details to assist you in understanding the process with Aesthetic Nurse Joanna both before, during, and after your treatment.
In accordance with the March 2024 regulations from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Aesthetic Nurse Joanna is no longer permitted to advertise a detailed list of cosmetic services. Hence, such services are not listed on this website, if you like to read the TGA announcement please click here.
Facial aging is a multifaceted process, and it's unrealistic to expect patients to select specific treatments as if choosing from a menu when booking appointments. Aesthetic Nurse Joanna approaches each patient as she would for any medical procedure, prioritising thorough consultation and examination. During your consultation, Aesthetic Nurse Joanna will assess your needs and guide you regarding suitable treatment options.

Many patients feel more at ease starting with gradual and straight forward procedures during their initial appointment, which helps alleviate concerns about appearing overly treated.

During your consultation, your treatment options will be thoroughly discussed, and you will be guided through a consent form detailing the expected outcomes, potential downtime, and risks associated with the procedure.

Treatments Offered During Consultation

Simple treatments are often administered on the same day as your consultation, provided you are deemed suitable. The treatments offered depend on factors such as available time, your medical suitability, and Aesthetic Nurse Joanna’s assessment.

However, there are instances where it may be advisable to postpone treatment. For example, if you require additional time to consider your options or if certain treatments are contraindicated for medical reasons. In such cases, you are welcome to reschedule for a later appointment.
Ensuring your Safety for Certain Treatments
It's essential to postpone appointments for certain treatments if you're experiencing any of the following:

-
Feeling unwell or showing symptoms of illness like coughing, cold, runny nose, or fever.
-
Experiencing a flare-up of autoimmune conditions such as thyroid disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or inflammatory bowel disease.
-
Dealing with allergies like itchy eyes, hay fever, or a runny nose.
-
Having dental issues such as needing a filling, experiencing tooth pain, or undergoing dental surgery like implants, root canals, or gum surgery.
-
Scheduled for surgery, a colonoscopy, biopsy, or any other invasive medical procedure.
-
Any recent vaccines or planning to have a vaccine in the next couple of days.

Why are these situations problematic?

When your body's immune system is compromised due to illness or stress, it may react negatively to the cosmetic materials, increasing the risk of complications such as infections, prolonged swelling, tenderness, or irregular lumpiness at the treatment sites.

If any of the mentioned scenarios apply to you, please inform us to rearrange your appointment and mitigate these risks. Alternatively, you can reschedule your booking online.

The same caution applies to dental or other invasive procedures, including fillings, crowns, implants, or surgeries. Please complete these appointments at least two weeks prior to your injectable treatment, ensuring full recovery and minimising the risk of complications.

Bruising, swelling, and downtime:

It's important to note that bruises and swelling are common outcomes of aesthetic treatments. While we cannot entirely avoid these side effects, planning your treatments with downtime in mind is advisable, especially if you have upcoming social events or work commitments.

To minimize the risk of bruising, Aesthetic Nurse Joanna recommends avoiding alcohol, aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, fish or krill oils, garlic/ginger supplements at least five days before your procedure.

Pregnancy

If you're a female and any of the following situations apply to you, you will not be eligible for medical aesthetic treatments:

-
Actively trying for pregnancy or not using contraception and at risk of pregnancy.
-
Currently pregnant.
-
Undergoing IVF treatment.
-
Breastfeeding.

There's limited knowledge about the effects in these circumstances due to the lack of large-scale studies on their safety. Therefore, please refrain from booking a consultation if you're in any of these scenarios, as you will not be treated.
Post Treatment Care
Following your procedure, you'll receive guidance on what activities are advisable and what to avoid.
You'll receive an automatic email immediately after your treatment, containing detailed aftercare instructions so you don't have to memorize them.

For optimal results and a consistent appearance, some treatments are recommended every 3-4 months. Aesthetic Nurse Joanna will suggest scheduling your next appointment before you leave the clinic, ensuring you have a confirmed booking aligned with your previous treatment outcomes.

Other treatments require less frequent maintenance, and you'll receive guidance on when your next session may be necessary. If you have multiple sessions already planned, it's advisable to schedule them before leaving the clinic, allowing you to coordinate your work and social commitments accordingly.
What happens if you want to be reviewed?

What to Do If You Require a Review:
Post-treatment reviews are provided at no additional cost and may be necessary in some cases. While every effort is made to ensure the success of medical treatments, minor dose adjustments may occasionally be required.

Reviews offer you the opportunity to provide feedback to Aesthetic Nurse Joanna and address any concerns you may have. You can schedule a review on the same day as your treatment before leaving the clinic, or you can book online once you're back home. If you're unable to find a suitable time slot online, please contact the clinic, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Review (15 Minutes)
Please reserve this option for appointments scheduled at least 14 days after your initial treatment.
This quick review is ideal if you believe you may require a minor adjustment or wish to discuss adding supplementary products.

Please note that any additional products administered during the review will be subject to regular charges.
